Sunday circuit

Reading time: 2 minutes

Good run…

  • Up Dunstans Road and turn left (South) on to Lordship Lane
  • Opposite Harvester on South Circular go through gate and up Cox’s Walk to Dulwich Woods
  • Up hill over disused railway tunnel at back of Sydenham Hill Wood (Nature Reserve) which comes out on Sydenham Hill
  • Turn right along Sydenham Hill to mini-roundabout (towards Crystal Palace Television Transmission Mast)
  • Left at mini-roundabout (as if going to Penge)
  • First right through gate in to Crystal Palace Park
  • Follow path through to where the palace used to stand and then head across park towards Crystal Palace railway station
  • Turn right just before station to bring you out by bus depot
  • Go right (East) back towards East Dulwich
  • Take a left down College Road… until you reach the South Circular by Dulwich College
  • Turn right along Dulwich Common (A205 South Circular)
  • After 250 metres go left through gate in to Dulwich Park
  • Run across park, exit through the gate which takes you up Eynella Road
  • Go up the hill, over the lights at the crossroads, and down Barry Road
  • Turn right at Goodrich Road
  • Go left either down Friern Road or Upland Road to take you to Underhill Road to complete the circuit

It’s quite leafy and fairly undulating. There are some great views North across London and it’s great imagining what it must have been like when The Crystal Palace was in its prime

47 minutes this morning

Not sure how far, feels 10k-ish

  1. Hi Paul, I can give plenty more detail if needed πŸ™‚

It would have to be landmarks rather than street names as they’re the things that stick in my mind.

I had to look most of the street names up!

  2. 45 minutes this morning.

Legs heavy to start with, but pushed it on a few stretches. Hit flow at half-way mark.

    Useful time-checks:
23 minutes to exit Crystal Palace Park
30 minutes to Sydenham Hill Station

  3. 46 minutes

A little late reporting, but did this run on Bank Holiday Monday

Felt a bit sluggish but clocked in quite a good time in the end

  4. 48 minutes this morning, took it slow and got in to a great rhythm. Could have carried on for quite a while.

They were filming something in Cox’s Walk, but I didn’t stop to find out what.

  5. 47 minutes this evening, steady pace.

Zippos Circus (which we went to last year on Peckham Rye) has moved from Blackheath (where I saw it last week when I started to learn to kite board) to the top of Crystal Palace Park.

  6. 63 minutes this evening.

Added a clockwise lap of Peckham Rye and Peckham Rye Park at the end in honour of Paula Radcliffe’s magnificent win today in the London Marathon.

    No toilet breaks though πŸ˜‰

  7. Nic
Do it backwards, going up Collage Road first. Much better for the legs and more of a challenge πŸ˜‰

    Lawrence
